Indicative calculation
The visitor receives a range or example based on owner-supplied rates and disclosed assumptions. It is a planning aid, not an accepted price.
- Immediate, limited result
- Formula and date visible
- Manual review still available
Use your business's current rate, expected hours and known costs to calculate an indicative total on this page. The demo uses no default prices, keeps the formula and assumptions visible, and does not save or send your inputs.
The visitor receives a range or example based on owner-supplied rates and disclosed assumptions. It is a planning aid, not an accepted price.
The visitor sends job details and waits for a person to review them. This fits work that cannot be priced responsibly from a few fields.
The business offers a price for a defined scope under its own terms. That step belongs to the business's approved sales process.
Enter your current labor rate, expected hours and any known costs. The calculation happens on this page. Nothing is submitted, stored or sent.
Rates reviewed:
Review the scope, tax treatment, exclusions and current rates before giving a customer an estimate or quote.
VURM should not invent what a roofer charges per square, what a plumber charges for a visit, or what a mover charges for distance and access. The owner must provide every base rate, range, minimum, multiplier and exclusion, together with the date it was reviewed. The implementation can then apply those values consistently and show the visitor which inputs affected the result.
The rate sheet also needs an owner. Someone in the business must know when labor, materials, travel rules or minimum charges change and request an update. A calculator with stale but polished numbers can be more misleading than no calculator at all. The visible result should therefore include a rate-review date and a route to request manual confirmation.
Before implementation, test the rules against recent, anonymized examples chosen by the business. The goal is to find missing branches and misleading edge cases, not to claim predictive accuracy. The accepted project scope must state who supplies the rates, who approves the wording, what VURM builds, and how future updates are handled.
Load only the service choices, bands, rates and exclusions the business has supplied and dated. Do not scrape competitor prices or fill gaps with invented averages.
For a demonstration, the visitor's selections can remain on the device and produce the result locally. The demo should not submit, store or send those inputs.
Show the formula in plain language, identify the assumptions, label the output as indicative, and list the factors that require manual review.
After the result, link to the current contact route. Sending a request, accepting a quote, booking work and paying are separate actions outside the demo.
A roofing example might ask for an owner-defined roof-area band, project category and a small set of complexity choices. The result could apply the roofer's approved base range and disclosed modifier. It should then name what is still unknown: verified measurements, pitch, layers, decking condition, access, permits, materials and damage discovered during inspection. The visitor should never be asked to climb onto a roof to improve the calculation.
A plumbing example works only for services the company has deliberately standardized. The owner might supply a range for a stated service category and define which travel or after-hours conditions exclude instant calculation. Active leaks, uncertain causes, parts, concealed conditions and code requirements should route to a person. The calculator must not diagnose a problem, give safety instructions, or turn an indicative figure into an emergency-service promise.
A moving or removal example could combine owner-defined volume or room bands with distance, stairs, elevator access, long carries and selected heavy items. The disclosed formula should say whether packing, parking, tolls, valuation coverage, disposal fees or storage are excluded. A visitor who cannot describe the inventory or access accurately should be able to leave the calculator and request a manual review without receiving a false-precision total.
The business owner signs off on the inputs, values, range method, exclusions and review date.
VURM implements only the documented branches and keeps submission, booking and payment outside the local demo unless separately scoped.
The business checks ordinary examples, minimums, extreme inputs, missing selections, rounding and every manual-review route.
A release review confirms local-only handling, visible disclosures, accessible interactions, mobile behavior, analytics boundaries and current contact links.
A structured request form can be useful without generating a price. The contractor page explains the existing approach.

It gives you a local formula demo for testing numbers you enter yourself. It does not contain your real service rules, issue a quote, collect an inquiry, book work or take payment. A customer-facing implementation still needs an agreed project and owner-approved rates.
The service business supplies and approves its own rates, ranges, minimums, modifiers and exclusions. VURM should not invent trade prices or substitute market averages.
No. This demo calculates in your browser and does not submit, store or send the inputs. A contact request is a separate, deliberate action with its own privacy explanation.
No. This demo produces an indicative result only. Quotation, acceptance, booking, tax treatment and payment remain in the business's separately approved process.
VURM can assess whether they support a bounded calculator or whether a manual estimate request is the more honest route. Any implementation, price, timing and ongoing rate updates must be agreed before work begins.
